Located at 6630 Indianapolis Blvd of Hammond, IN, the Hammond Sportsplex is a 135,000 square foot sports complex. Featuring hardwood basketball courts, 12 indoor volleyball courts, regulation size soccer fields, and an elevated walking track, the facility provides a place for locals and tourists alike to compete in recreational activities. The facility also features a multi-purpose room and a Union Bar & Lounge.
The new sports complex is one of the first projects of its kind in Hammond. Designed for versatility, the facility is designed for a variety of sports. The sportsplex is located on the former Woodmar Mall site. There are six basketball courts, 12 volleyball courts, a racquetball court and two regulation soccer fields. In addition, the sportsplex has a large indoor batting cage. The facility will expand to two regulation-sized fields and a large upper-level track. There is also a mezzanine observatory deck, concourse area, and concession area. The new health clinic provides services ranging from urgent care to dentistry to orthopedic care.
The new sports complex cost $17 million and features eight basketball courts, twelve volleyball courts, two full size soccer fields, and an elevated running track around the perimeter. The complex also includes a swimming pool, a gymnasium, and a walking track. The new facility also houses several youth and adult sports leagues. The facility also features a free Walking Club. The group promotes fitness and social interaction among multiple generations. The facility has pickleball courts for older residents to support an active lifestyle.
A new 13,000 SF health clinic with urgent care, orthopedic care, and a dentist is located on the property. An interactive kids' room and a concession stand is available to patrons. The center contains an outdoor play area as well.
The new facility opened in September of 2015. The entire project was completed in about a year. It is a great way to bring the community together and get in shape.
